The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said the export value of agricultural, forest and aquatic products was estimated at US$2.5 billion in September, totalling US$23.3 billion in the first nine months, up 6 per cent over the same period of 2015.
Particularly, the export value of key agricultural products was projected at US$11.1 billion in the nine-month period, up 7.2 per cent year on year. Seafood exports valued US$4.9 billion, up 4.3 per cent and forest product exports were worth US$5.1 billion, almost unchanged from a year earlier period.
Growth in both shipment and value was seen in most exports such as rubber, tea and cashew nuts. Rubber exports rose 14.6 per cent in volume and 1 per cent in value. Tea export grew 6.4 per cent in volume and 0.2 per cent in value while the respective growth rates of cashew nut exports were 4.5 per cent and 13.6 per cent.
Coffee posted the biggest increase. Coffee export was estimated at 113,000 tonnes worth US$221 million in September 2016, totalling 1.39 million tonnes valued US$2.48 billion in the nine-month period, up 38, 9 per cent in volume and 22.1 per cent in value year on year.
However, declines occurred to some key exports such as rice, woodwork and cassava.
