Expanding market share

Huynh Trung Tru, Deputy Director of the Can Tho City Department of Industry and Trade, said the department has worked with relevant organizations and authorities to promote the campaign, facilitate Vietnamese product value improvement, and enable enterprises to promote and sell goods through different distribution channels. The department has also worked with urban and suburban district authorities to assist business in trade development, including domestic market expansion, branding and competitiveness improvement.

A Mekong Delta province – Hau Giang – has launched points of sale of Vietnamese goods in Long My Town and Vi Thanh City. The provincial steering committee for the campaign worked with relevant authorities to enable enterprises to promote and bring their products to rural areas.

The Mekong Delta province of An Giang has held Vietnamese goods shipment and market days since early this year, including market days in Phu Tan District, nine goods shipments to Chau Thanh, Chau Phu and Phu Tan districts and Tan Chau Town. The Tu Son Supermarket in An Giang Province’s Chau Doc City has been doing a good job of bringing reasonably priced, high quality Vietnamese goods to rural areas.

Promoting Vietnamese goods

The city of Can Tho will be continuing to promote the Buy Vietnamese Goods campaign. The city has often shipped Vietnamese goods to rural areas and residential quarters, with each shipment attracting 30-35 enterprises and bringing in average revenues of more than VND700 million. The city has encouraged enterprises to participate in price stabilization programs and programs for bringing Vietnamese goods to rural areas.

In 2018, the Tu Son Chau Doc Co., Ltd and the Saigon Trading Corporation will be implementing 50 shipments of Vietnamese goods to different areas, while the city Department of Industry and Trade will work with Tu Son Supermarket to open three “Be proud of Vietnamese goods 2018” fairs, in Phu Tan, Chau Thanh, and Tri Ton District.

Tra Vinh Province has submitted a plan for Vietnamese goods points of sale in 2019 to the Ministry of Industry and Trade for approval. The province will also facilitate market development for Vietnamese goods including provincial farm produce, and launch Vietnamese goods fairs in Tra Cu and Tieu Can districts, and Long Duc Industrial Zone.

Ca Mau Province’s industry and trade industry will continue to encourage consumers to buy Vietnamese goods and create favorable conditions for enterprises to launch Vietnamese goods fairs in and execute shipments to rural areas.

A survey by the Institute of Public Opinion Research shows that 92 percent of surveyed consumers said they are

interested in the Buy Vietnamese Goods campaign, more than 63 percent said they prefer Vietnamese products to

imported ones, and 54 percent said they would recommend to their relatives and friends to buy Vietnamese goods.
