Pham S, deputy chairman of the Lam Dong People’s Committee, said the province aims to build high-tech agriculture, provide agricultural products on a large scale, enhance quality and reduce costs, strengthen research and development activities, promote the Da Lat brand name in the domestic market and expand exports to foreign markets.

A comprehensive agriculture development project with multiple approaches, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), has delivered promising results in Lam Dong Province. The provincial action plan on development and advertisement will focus on vegetables, flowers, Arabica coffee, and agricultural tourism. It will target businesses, cooperatives, households and individuals producing and trading in these products.

The objective is to take Da Lat-Lam Dong to new heights as Vietnam’s top agriculture brand and one of Southeast Asia’s top agricultural tourism attractions, as well as provide a high-quality human resource training center for the agricultural sector. The province will also promote investment attraction in branded items and strengthen control of product quality in order to increase competitiveness.

The action plan is being applied in Da Lat City and the districts of Don Duong, Duc Trong, Lac Duong and some communes of Lam Ha District along the planning boundary of Da Lat City and surrounding areas by 2020, with a vision to 2050. It was approved in Prime Ministerial Decision 704/QD-TTg dated May 12, 2014.

The implementation will be funded from the provincial budget. Of the total VND11.385 billion budget for the 2017-2020 period, VND1.119 billion was planned for 2017, VND3.501 billion in 2018, VND3.74 billion in 2019 and VND3.025 billion in 2020.

The Lam Dong Department of Industry and Trade is advising the local people’s committee on the implementation of the action plan.
