HCMC and RoK's Gyeongsangbuk province foster relationship

The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City and the authorities of the Republic of Korea (ROK)’s Gyeongsangbuk province signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of friendship and cooperative relationship between the two localities on December 3.

Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City's People's Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong emphasised that the signing of the MoU was of great importance, which could be a favourable mechanism to open up more cooperation opportunities in the areas of economics, culture, and education between Ho Chi Minh City and Gyeongsangbuk province.

Phong believed that through the MoU, leaders of Gyeongsangbuk province will develop policies to encourage more RoK enterprises to invest in Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to economic development between the two countries.

Governor of Gyeongsangbuk province, Kim Kwan Yong also expressed his belief that the friendship and cooperative relationship between the two localities will further develop in the future, facilitating development of enterprises and strengthening the relationship between the two countries.

The Governor also thanked leaders of Ho Chi Minh City for successful organisation of the Ho Chi Minh City-Gyeongiu World Cultural Festival 2017 which concluded in Ho Chi Minh City on December 3.

The month-long festival attracted over four million visitors including 12,000 RoK visitors which was among activities to mark the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic ties.

Following the signing of the MoU, Ho Chi Minh City has set up friendship and cooperative relationship with 48 localities across the world including six localities from RoK.
