Hanoi Gift Show boosts export opportunities for craft products

The 2017 Hanoi Gift Show, taking place in Hanoi from October 17 to 20, is expected to provide a good opportunity to promote the export of handicrafts and ethnic items from craft villages in Hanoi and other craft villages nationwide.

This remark was made by Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Doan Toan at the opening ceremony on October 17.

The event attracted the participation of over 250 businesses from 30 cities and provinces from across the country, such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hue, Da Nang, Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ben Tre, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An, as well as five foreign countries, namely China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, India and Nepal.

With more than 650 booths, the event showcases five major product groups, including home decor and handicrafts; indoor and outdoor furniture; home textiles and embroidery; personal accessories; gifts and cultural products.

The event shows efforts and commitments Hanoi has made to building a government of facilitation and to providing support for local businesses and trade villages, according to the Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee.

The four-day event is expected to receive around 600 highly capable importers from various countries and territories around the world, including the US, the European Union, Japan, Russia.

Cao Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, suggested the city focus on incentives for trade villages and instructed the municipal Department of Industry and Trade to continue to organise the annual event and make it a leading export fair in terms of scale and quality.
