According to Central Group Vietnam, Luc Ngan lychee is being sold at Tops Supermarket and Central Food Hall chain in Bangkok, at a listed price of THB299 per kg.
Director of Bac Giang provincial Department of Industry and Trade Tran Quang Tan said that Luc Ngan lychee has been exported to more than 30 countries across the world with Thailand being the latest market that Central Group Vietnam has successfully entered into.
This is good news for Vietnamese lychee growers as Thailand is one among the five largest lychee exporters in the world and has had great success in brand building, marketing and export of local farm produce, Tan noted.
"The successful export of lychee to Thailand continues to affirm the quality of Luc Ngan lychee on the international market, particularly in demanding markets such as the US, Australia and Japan," Tan said.
According to the report by Bac Giang provincial People's Committee, the province has nearly 30,000 ha reserved for growing lychee. The total volume of lychee is estimated at 100,000 tonnes in 2017, equivalent to 70% of 2016, including 40,000 tonnes meeting VietGAP standards and 1,600 tonnes meeting GlobalGAP standards.
Bac Giang expects to export and domestically consume 50,000 tonnes of lychee in 2017.
