National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines announced Wednesday that it plans to provide disabled passengers with free mobility aid services to ease their travel experience.
The airline will add 80 wheelchairs, along with experienced staff, to its operations starting Saturday, in a bid to ensure elevated service for disabled flyers.
Specifically, deaf, blind, physically challenged, and elderly passengers will be provided with free assistance in the airline’s terminals and on their flights.
Disabled customers will need to inform the airline of their health condition when purchasing their tickets, according to the carrier.
The carrier also offers priority boarding to passengers with physical challenges.
Service dogs will be accepted on the flight free of charge and passengers traveling with a dog-for-the-blind must register the animal as checked baggage, the airline said on its website.
To create more opportunities for the disabled to travel by air, Vietnam Airlines also runs a 15 percent discount policy for economy tickets on some domestic flights.
